Project Description

Historic preservation can be a very effective strategy for increasing urban sustainability – re-using an existing building keeps materials out of landfills and results in dramatically fewer carbon emissions than a new build.

When restored in tandem with a Passive House EnerPhit efficiency upgrade, townhouses built over 150 years ago can handily outperform modern conventional structures.

Located on a Landmarked block adjacent to Prospect Park, this two-family home was gutted and renovated with new high-performance windows, doors, skylights, energy recovery ventilators, and a high-efficiency HVAC system.

Amazing indoor air quality, abundant natural light, and warm, comfortable surfaces create a quiet oasis within the city.
