This 94-year old house is the first certified Passive House in Santa Cruz County. Water conservation features include rainwater harvesting for indoor non-potable use (laundry and toilets). Charming and comfortable Passive House, as a bonus the before and after utility bills show 80% reduction in energy use after the retrofit.
Project Midorihaus kept the footprint of the three-bedroom, two bathroom California Bungalow originally built in 1922. It was retrofitted to Passive House standard during 2012 with the aim to combine energy efficiency and comfort of Passive House with the aesthetics of Arts and Crafts style.
